Is this guitar course right for me?

If you're not interested in metal, this is definitely NOT the course for you. Even though many guitar techniques are similar across styles, every lesson in this course purely focussed on becoming a master metal guitarist.

Do you want to learn how to shred like Dimebag?

Do you want to crush audiences with the djent riffs of Meshuggah

Maybe you just want to thrash out with a garageband playing Metallica covers

Or better yet, perhaps you one day want to tour the world as part of an extreme metal band yourself?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then this is the course for you!

Prerequisites* to join this course:

  • Basic understanding of guitar tabs
  • Basic understanding of open chords
  • Ability to play a few riffs
  • Dedication to practice for 30-60 min per day
  • You have to want to become a part of an awesome community of excellent metal guitarists and share your love of metal with others! Just because we're online doesn't mean we aren't part of a community.

*if you're worried about the course being too advanced for you, I encourage you to start a free trial to see the standard required for yourself.

Extreme Metal Guitar Course Structure

All of our metal guitar lessons are divided into 4 categories:

  1. Rhythm Guitar Techniques (eg. riffs & chords)
  2. Lead Guitar Techniques (eg. scales & solos)
  3. Guitar Knowledge (eg. playing in a band & recording metal)
  4. Guitar Philosophy (eg. practice technique & finding your motivation)

You'll typically receive 2 new topics per week in the form of:

  • Video guitar lessons
  • Audio guitar recordings
  • Written guitar lessons
  • Daily practice checklists
  • Completion Quizzes to make sure you've covered what you needed to
  • PDF Tabs, Charts & Diagrams

All up, you'll want to have an hour per day to practice the material provided, but 30min will work as an absolute minimum.

This is the complete extreme metal guitar course. You're going to have to work hard to become a master, but I guarantee you're going to have a blast getting there!

FAQ

How do I get started?

Either start your free trial or select your monthly subscription at the bottom of the page below. You'll receive your first lessons as soon as you sign up, as well as links to join our Extreme Metal Guitar Community.

How often will I receive new lessons?

Every week. The topics build on each other, so if you do miss a week here and there, you should be able to catch up when we come back to that topic at a later date.

How long does the course take?

I'm going to keep adding to this course until I've given you all the knowledge I have. Think of it like learning from a teacher - you keep learning with them until you reach your goals. If your goal is to play at my standard, you will need to dedicate years to getting there, but if your goal is to learn the fundamentals of metal, you might only need 6-12 months to get there. Focus on the journey, not the destination.

What if I'm a complete beginner?

Give the trial lessons a go. If you can pick them up easy, then you should be fine. If not, I'd recommend getting lessons from a local teacher or a beginner online course first, then coming back once you're ready.

What if I'm already pretty good?

I like your confidence! For the first month, try following all the material as recommended, but focus on getting as fast and as clean a technique as possible. Even if you've covered some of the content before, there will be new things to work on and learn (I still practice all of the lessons I provide personally). If you're still finding it all way too easy, get in touch - we may be able to move you ahead in the course pending a quick review of your skills.

What if I can't commit to the practice?

Your results will directly reflect the amount of practice you put in. Less practice means slower progress, so just expect things to take a little longer if you can't commit to the recommended daily practice checklist.

Do I get to keep access to the course if I cancel?

You can download any of the PDFs as you go, but you will lose access to the videos and online lesson notes when you cancel your enrolment. If you remain enrolled, you can always look back on previous lessons (some will even be updated over time based on your feedback, and you'll always get these updates for free).
